Mother’s Day (Aamaa) – आमा

“Maatri Devo Bhavah” Mother is Goddess.

‘Apadi mataiv sharanam’. “Mother is uttered in times of calamity”

Happy Mother’s Day to all beloved souls, Merciful Mothers and all rested peaceful Mother’s Souls.

Today is considered as the day to see the mother’s face. This day is also addressed as Maatri-aunsee, Maatri-Divas, Maataa tirtha Aunsee , आमा (मातातीर्थ औंशी)  etc. Today, children go to their ama’s/mums’ place to see their mother’s face. They honor their ama ( mata ) by giving her sweets and gifts.

Mata is the power of the Goddess, the source of feminine energy in Kundalini Yoga. She is herself the source of purity, will, action, love, aliveness, and full of compassion, so no need to go elsewhere and see the entire Mother within you. She is always with you. Out of Tina Rina (three indebt) of Maatri (आमा) Rina, Pitri Rina, and Guru Rina, Maatri Rina (Mother’s indebt) is more priceless. All we are indebted to her. So, just Salute and Gratitude with total energy (Power, kindness, Love, compassion, and Intelligence) remembering mother even not in physical form, also unseen supper compassion that energizes and awakens our absolute spirituality forever.

The Nepali version of Mother’s Day is different from the Modern world. The festival to respect and show love to one’s ama’s / mums in Nepal.  People celebrate this’s day on the new moon day of Baisakh, the first month in Nepali calendar. This year, in 2020, the festival falls on April 23, 2020. The festival is commonly known as ‘Aamako Mukh Herne Din’. The literal translation of Aamako Mukh Herne Din is “the Day to see the Mother’s Face”.

The mother (आमा) carries the child in her womb for nine months and gives birth. One cannot even imagine creation without a mother. The ama creates a selfless child by giving the baby food, water, air, nutrients, and cultural rites. There is no one in the world more revered and compassionate than the ama who takes care of the baby even after birth and builds a complete personality by nurturing it.

Mother’s Day is observed by giving special emphasis to amas. Even though the holiday is not given officially in Nepal but the people celebrate with all the happiness and love towards their Mums. Mum keeps a very important place in our life. Without ama, our life would be dull and a life without colors. Mother’s are really special to us.

We must learn to respect ama’s and should know to value ama place in our lives. Mum’s shape our lives in a definite way. We must learn the importance of mums / ama in our lives. this’s Day celebrates the spirit of motherhood.

Mother in Sanskrit

The meaning of the Atharva Veda, “Maatraa Bhavatu Sammanaa”, signifies the importance of the mother holding the body in the womb. ‘

Similarly, ‘Aapadi Mataiva Sharanam’ means Ama is remembered in times of calamity. If there is a fight or a collision, Ama from everyone’s mouth! The phrase comes out spontaneously because even in our subconscious mind, Mum is firmly entrenched.

It is also said-

“Maatraa samam Naasti Shareera Poshanam”. There is no one else who provides the same amount of care and nourishment for the body as the ama. This applies not only to humans but also to other creatures. The bird travels far and wide for the young to bring food to the beak, even if it does not eat it. Why do cows try to lick a newborn calf? Why do they try to move the baby monkey? They get up in a crowd. All happens because they have the same affection for their children.

Mother’s love is unconditional and never-ending. We must celebrate this day to show appreciation for our mother. We must appreciate all the things that a mum has done for us. Mum’s have been called the glue that sticks the family together, but the glue I often underappreciate.

There is no one else in the world who loves a creature like a mother. The virtues of such a mother cannot be described in words. Creation has got continuity through ama’s sacrifice, penance, and sacrifice. Since creation is not possible without the mother, the child should always be grateful to the mother.

It is said that no one can repay these three debts like ama’s loan i.e. mother’s loan, father’s loan and master loan etc. However, the burden of mother’s loan can be lightened to some extent by showing heartfelt respect to the ama.

The mother-आमा- is the earth because she nurtures and protects the children with endurance like the earth. No one is more likely to love a child than a mum would for no reason. Therefore, respecting the mother is the first duty of the child. To fulfill this duty, it is customary in Nepali society to look at the mother’s face every year on Mother’s Day.

Story connected with Matatirtha Day- Saabhaar

The seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Myrada Purushoktam, came to Matatirtha one day while walking in the tram of exile. Seeing him as unfamiliar and new, the locals attacked him. As a result, a fierce battle broke out between Ram and the locals. Due to the war, both sides became anxious with thirst.

At the same time, Sita also felt thirsty. While searching for water, Lord Rama praised Ganga as no water was found anywhere.

‘Mata Gangasamo Tirtha Pita Pushkar Me Vach’

After chanting the mantra three times, Rama shot an arrow at the ground, and a pool of water was formed at the place where the arrow hit. There, Sita ji had a vision of the whole universe. When she got a vision of the universe, her form was imaged on the stone in the pool.

According to another story

In Dwapar Yuga, a time thousands of years ago, an orphan shepherd boy was eating his lunch. While sitting beside the Matatirtha pond and eating bread, he accidentally dropped a piece of bread in the pond. As he tried to grab the bread from the pond, he saw his own mother’s face in the reflection. He was pleasantly surprised to see his dead ama’s lovely face in the pond.

He was so happy to see the face that he started crying. By coincidence, the day was the new moon day of Baisakh. The mum image in the pond told the boy not to cry and told him that she was always with her son. She also promised to meet him every year, on the same day at that same location. 

When other people in the village heard about the story from the shepherd boy, they also rushed to the pond. All those who looked into the pond saw their mum in the reflection. Although this is a fable, and nobody sees images in their ama’s in the reflection of water. Thousands of people go to the place to pay respect to their ama. It is a strong moral faith that makes people honor themselves.

To give an image to worship, a statue of a woman named ‘Aama’ has also been constructed in the place.

Process of Surya Kriya Yoga

  1. Prepare any meditated posture and Chant Surya Mantra: “AUM SURYA DEVAYA NAMAH”
  2. Meditate on solar energy with Naman (Obeisance) Mudra, Aawaana (Calling) Mudra, Simhakraanta (Pouncing –lion) Mudra, Kamala (Lotus) Mudra, Aalingana (Embracing) Mudra, Arghya (offering) Mudra, respectively,1 minute on each.
  3. Practice Surya Namaskara – 6 rounds or 12 rounds as need and time.
    OR,  practice only 2 and 3 steps – 3 times at least and do Bhastrika Pranayama with making hand fist up-down on Pooraka and Rechaka; Vaksha-shakti-sanchalana kriya; Prishthaasana (Back bend with Hand on Low back) with Pooraka and Rechaka
  4. Rub the palms and do the massage on the eyes, face, and whole body
  5. Surya Bheda Pranayama – 7 times
  6. Practice Shaambhavi Mudra with Surya Mudra, facing to sun rays
  7. Chant Surya Shakti Beej Mantra with Naman Mudra

Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series

Yoga is the union of the inner self and the cosmic intelligence. Yoga is for getting good health, happiness, and harmony. It is a completely experimental science that uncovers inner peace, inner purity, inner rest, and inner relaxation, then links to groom entire potency. Yoga is the complete science of being. Dhyana (Meditation) is the final key in yoga Practice. Physical practice, or Asanas, is one of the major pillars of the whole yogic mission. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is the complete Asana series for intense physical fitness; it is strongly grounded for Yoga sadhana. It combines some of the means of Yoga like Prayer, Asana, Breath, Bandha, and Focus (drishti) for optimum merits.

Ashtanga Vinyasa is the combination of yoga asanas (poses) and is the teaching style of asanas by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois. The term ‘Ashtanga’ means eight limbs of yoga (i.e., yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahar, dharana, dhyana, and Samadhi) as a complete pattern of Yoga Sadhana mentioned in Patanjala Yoga Darshana. But here, Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series means merely a sequence of asanas for regular practice in his style.  Vinyasa here means careful linkage of breath with

  • movement of body and
  • static position of the body
  • keeping awareness on body, breath and thoughts.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series includes

  1. Opening Prayer
  2. Surya Namaskara A (9 steps)
  3. Surya Namaskara B (17 steps)
  4. Standing Asanas
  5. Sitting Asanas
  6. Lying Asanas
  7. Savasana
  8. Closing Prayer

There are 71 asanas sequenced in the primary series. The powerful vinyasa flow to link one asana with the other is the distinction of this technique. Vinyasa flow strengthens arms, hands, torso, and core. The continuous vinyasa-flow after each asana keeps making the body warm, which helps to go extreme level of asana due to better flexibility. This also helps the body to do counter-stretch. Ujjayi breath and Drishti (gaze), along with asana, are an inseparable part of Pattabhi’s technique. The breathing sound produced through the throat during the asana is called Ujjayi breath.

Ujjayi breath helps

  • to give abundance oxygen during the practice, thus recharges and invigorates the body
  • clear the blockage of nadis and purify them
  • to make a perfect oscillation of the inner-ventral blood pressure. The internal organs get massaged with this oscillation, leaving them healthier and stronger

You cannot separate the throat breath (almost like the Ujjayi breath) during the holding moment of asana.

  • Ujjayi reduces the anxiety and the stress keeping mind in the present.
  • Increases mindfulness and consciousness.
  • Deepens the breath and helps in formal practice of pranayama.
  • Relaxes the muscles and goes deeper into the asana.
  • Activates parasympathetic nervous system. This results peaceful and tranquil mind.
  • Creates inward attention and helps to feel the body more and more.
  • It gives effect to the subtle body and helpful to awaken Kundalini.

There are six sequences of Ashtanga Vinyasa. After 1-2 years regular practice of Ashtanga vinyasa, you will be prepared for the intermediate series. The series is very effective for making body energetic, strong and flexible. It makes a great change in you if practiced regularly with dedication.

The Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate Series (Nadi Shodhana)

The Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate series is the second among the six series of Ashtanga Yoga. Intermediate series is definitely more challenging than Primary Series demanding better flexibility, strength and long term practice. This is often called as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga since each pose is connected to the next with vinyasa flow. This series is ordered by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois (26 July 1915 – 18 May 2009). The second series is known as Nadi Shodhana – meaning Nerve Cleansing. This is because of the focus on backbend asanas.

The backbends encourage and maintain the suppleness of the spine and as well as working on opening the energy channels, allowing Prana to flow freely. Ujjayi breath, Bandha (energy control), and Drishti (focus) during the asana become deeper in experience due to long-term practice. (Nadi Shodhana is also the name given to Alternate Nostril Pranayama.) The holding duration on each pose is generally for five ujjayi breaths or as long as you can do.

While some of the earlier asanas in the sequence may be familiar to many (Locust Pose, for example), the Intermediate series sequence moves onto more intense backbends, hip-opening poses, and headstand variations. Before practicing the Intermediate series, you need to practice the Primary series for about two years. This will open you a new energetic dimension. If you get your body flexible and powerful enough and there are no more things to learn. The second series will be a novel chance for practice.

The poses have their health benefits and challenges, but the specific combination of the poses works strongly on the nervous system, so it can have a very different effect on the body than the Primary series or other dynamic yoga classes. It’s therefore really important to end your practice with a long Savasana and as you start out practicing the Intermediate series, begin on a day when you don’t have too much going on.

Chair Sun Salutation

Surya Namaskara means the salutation to the Sun, and can be known as a form of prayer to the Sun as well. Scientifically, it creates the microcosmic effects and chromo-effects in the eyes and the body. Surya Namaskara on a chair (Chair Sun Salutation) is a vital technique within yogic tools. It comes under Shatkarma as a Vatasaara Kriya (Entire Air cleansing Act) mentioned in Hatha Yoga. Its application makes perfect kriya to build our health, vigorous, balance, lightness, and also for spiritual growth.

Surya Namaskara is a series of twelve steps in a traditional pattern with seven physical Asanas, and 5 steps of repetition out of the seven Asanas. This series gives full support and stretch to the whole body. Before performing this series, we have to get mastery over all the individual Asanas, then we get ready for the series to attempt maximum benefits as a summarized version of daily practice. Now Yoga master is making different series with more and fewer steps, so we have a Surya Namaskaara with 30 Steps of Postures and also Kurchi Surya Namaskaara (Chair Sun Salutation), which is given below.

Surya Namaskar Variation on Chair (Sun Salutation Variation on Chair) is primarily for elderly people or people with less mobility issues or disabilities. Chair Surya Namaskar is also beneficial for people with desk jobs, as it can also be done while working in front of the computer to give the body a gentle massage and stretch, if one is seated for long hours. As the name suggests, the practice of the classical Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) is done using the chair as a support.

Significance of the Full Moon & Spirituality

Here we present an article on the significance of the full moon & spirituality. The union of the self and the rest of existence beyond is Yoga, and also the union of the Sun and the Moon. The cause behind the whole existence is the union of two opposites, power, i.e., the lunar and the solar, the feminine and masculine power, the Ida and Pingala, the Yin and Yang. The spiritual meaning of a super moon is a sign of arousing our consciousness.

The Sun represents worldly thing like our egos, identity, masculine expression, lightness, strength, illuminated soul where as the Moon represents inner world, shadow self, our dreams, emotions, feelings, unconscious beliefs, creativity, feminine expression of our essence, fears.

Masculinity is significant of “consciousness” and femininity is significant of “energy”. The cosmos is the totality of “energy” and “consciousness.” The seed of manifestation lies in consciousness, and what manifests it or what is manifested is identified as energy. The energy is reflective of masculine energy and feminine energy. The union of masculine and feminine energy makes creation possible. Moreover, we must understand that in our body, we acquire both masculinity/femininity-masculine energy/feminine energy that is consciousness and energy which hangs on the cosmic love and compassion (compassion is inevitable-inseparable-what completes the whole).

The Sun is masculine energy, and the Moon is feminine energy. Some traits of femininity are:

  • creativity (nature, art)
  • passive resistance (acceptance of the intensity of pain)
  • warrior spirit (ability to be a fighter during injustice/crisis)
  • deep sense of justice, balance, and morality (mediatic and power over desire)
  • stronger awareness of thoughts and feelings (deep thinker and deep love)
  • multidimensional persona (many-sided personality)
  • self-sacrifice for virtue (Dignity over anything)

Significance of Full Moon and New Moon days

When the Moon takes the positions, it heightens whatever you are. On those days, if you are joyful, you become more joyful; if you are loving, you become more loving; if you are blissful, you become much more blissful; if you are a little insane, you become much more insane; if you are meditative, you become far more meditative. It just enhances everything that you are. So we considered these days more important so that you consciously create the right kind of quality in you, so it gets enhanced. We know if even ocean goes mad? If you are a swimmer on the beach, it is madness for you, but if you skipper of large vessels, it is a boon for you. The very ocean is trying to rise, the situation may be conducive for you also to rise, probably. If you are willing to make use of it. And the moon’s influence on human life is far more than that. To do anything ourselves to be aware of where the moon is could be useful because it creates different types of qualities and energies in the system.

Discussion on a full moon

Let’s discuss a full moon to understand the technique or process to perform and manifest feminine traits within yourself.

Humans have been living by lunar cycles for centuries, and in our modern world, connecting to these energies can give us a sense of grounding synergy with the earth and cosmos. The traits of feminine energy can be acquired through understanding of feminine energy within oneself and connecting it with the moon’s energy. While the new moon is a time to set the intention for the beginning of activities, the full moon is a time of culmination and fruition.

When the moon is full, it’s a spiritual and energetic pinnacle of whatever you want to manifest. As the moon waxes (increases toward full light), our energy builds, and we collect information. The waxing moon means a forward-moving energy and momentum that’s great for building things, working toward a goal, or bringing the first phases of a project to fruition. As the moon wanes and the light starts to dwindle, we can begin to release what’s no longer working for us. It’s a great time to reflect on what you’ve built during the waxing phase while shedding anything that doesn’t feel right. As the moon arrives, we can tie up any loose ends and say goodbye to what’s not serving our highest purpose.

Rituals and Activities on Full Moon

1. Meditate: Full moon meditations are very effective, and it is crucial for energy-sensitive people to meditate during full moon as it is easier for them to manifest as well. If ignored to be contained or meditative during a full moon, they might have a reversed outcome of it, like insomnia, mood swings.

  • Powerful way to tap the luminous lunar energy and harness the energetic power of the moon’s light, full moon meditation is a huge opportunity. Before the meditation process, you can begin with a beautiful series of asana/ Chandra Namaskar-moon salutation for physical preparation/alignment, as well as a positive mindset/mindfulness is a must.
  • Sit comfortably in a space where the moonlight is visible.
  • Perform series of aasana you prefer that opens ur body completely and end physical preparation with moon salutation/Chandra Namaskar or we can practice Sun -Moon Sun Salutation. The process must be 10-12 minutes.
  • Be in meditation posture according to preference, proper alignment, hand mudra (hasta mudra) e.g. Jnana mudra, Chin mudra, Yoni mudra; Mind mudra (mana mudra) e.g. Shambhawi mudra and also Khechari Mudra.
  • Close your eyes and feel the moon’s beams, the luminous light piercing through your body.
  • Focus on your breath-in, hale-exhale deeply, 9-10 times; during exhalation, release any tension on thoughts or physical body, and during inhalation, realize that you are inhaling the part of cosmic energy.
  • Then focus on the intention you’ve set; the intention should be so positive/harmless to cosmic creatures; you must have realizations that “you are part of cosmos-you are cosmos, and cosmos is you”.
  • Imagine the energy of moon purifying your body-mind-soul.
  • Inhale-exhale deeply for 9-10 times and bow down to the feminine energy/moon.
  • Slowly bring your attention back to the space you are in and with open eyes accept the full moon and gaze at it for 1-3 minutes.

2. Release: Words have power- words are expressions of our thoughts-words are our intentions. The full moon is a potent time for letting go of what’s no longer serving you.

It’s a time of acceptance and forgiveness, and remember the power of acceptance and forgiveness is inevitable; it reflects our true nature, whether we can or are unable of it. Write down a list of everything you want to release from your life, and read them aloud with intention, either in a full moon circle or solo. 3. Make life-changing decisions: Emotions are heightened during the full moon, which can prompt knee-jerk reactions. If you’re not grounded, avoid making any sudden decisions.

Viral fever is common among children and older people as their immunity is lower. The fever by itself is not an illness, it is a symptom of an underlying cause, which is a viral infection. A viral infection can occur in any part of the body, intestines, lungs, air passages etc. The fever will occur as a result of the infection. The high fever is usually a sign of the immune system of the body, fighting against the intruding viruses and “burning them off”.

The symptoms ranges from sore throat, cough, running nose, mild to severe fever,enlarged glands, watery eyes,muscles and joint pain, vomitting diarrhoea, malaise and
generalised weakness. depending on the patients immunity level the severity of disease increases or decreases within few days.sometimes the disease may be dangerous affecting lungs, kidneys, heartcausing life threatening diseases like pneumonia, acute Renal failure,hepatitis etc. there may be secondary bacterial infections also.

Measures To Follow For Prevention From Viral Fever :

  • It is easy to catch a viral infection in crowded places like classrooms, theatres and buses. Simple precautions can keep the infections at bay. so, use of masks at the crowd places.
  • Avoid eating out, especially street food/hawkers stalls
  • Avoid cold beverages and ice-golas
  • Boil water and cool it before drinking
  • Eat plenty of fruits containing vitamin A C,
  •  If you get an infection, stay indoors to prevent spreading it
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Drink plenty of fluids, 8-10 glasses of water for viral patients
  • Eat easily digestible and light diet.

  • Leaves of tulsi used directly or as tea.

The world is now facing a crisis of coronavirus that affects mostly body respiratory system and the immune system. Due to this virus, nearly 3,011,426 are infected, and around 207,733 have already died, and 887,982 are recovered till this moment, 17:50 on 27th April, 2020. Due to this, the government has implemented the rule of being in quarantine in their own houses to be safe from this virus and to stop this pandemic as fast as possible. Due to this crisis, every person around the world is scared of this situation. So everybody should stay home in quarantine. It is better to follow a good lifestyle daily throughout the 24-hour biological clock.

Symptoms of Corona Virus

  • Light fever and Problems in Neck
  • Headache, Sound Change
  • Tiredness and muscle pain
  • Continue fever, dry cough, breathing problems, vomiting
  • High Fever, cough, body pain, and continued vomiting
  • After 1 week, more complications

But no worry and no tension while getting seasonal common cold and running nose, and fever without dry cough and breathing troubles as well.

Things To Do Or Routines To Follow during Coronavirus Quarantine

LOCKDOWN IS RIGHT TIME TO TRANSFORM AND REJUVENATE YOURSELF

  1. Wake up before 5 am if possible; if not, wake up before sunrise after sound sleep. It does not matter how many hours; it depends on the freedom of the day and sleep quality.
  2. Drink 2 glass of warm water early in the morning and promise to drink 2 to 4 liters water in 4 hours. However, it depends on nature of person, nature of work, nature of food, climate, etc.
  3. Keep your natural calls and have a shower after coming back from outside or after work, or after exercise.
  4.  In case when come back from hospitals and from the place of cremation, immediately have a bath and wash all clothes, then get dry on sun.
  5. Apply the hygienic rules and regulations completely. Wash your hands when you usually catch things that other people also catch the same things, and then you come back from outside. Wash your hands before food, even when using by spoon. And also wash your hands after Toilet, not only the Toilet paper.
  6. 1 glass of lemon water, sometimes a cup of Tulsi tea or Ginger tea or Turmeric and Ginger boiled water evening before bed and few seeds of garlic which is anti-viral.
  7. 60 Minutes Yoga Capsule:

    Mantras (e.g AUM & Gayatri Mantra) -3 minutes;
    Warm up 7 minutes;
    Aasanas – 20 to 25 minutes;
    Breathing Acts or Pranayama –(two times a Day), e.g, Kapalbhati, Bhastrika, and Anuloma-Viloma if you know – 10 to 15 minutes;  
    Meditation (two times a day) by sitting comfortably, close your eyes and watch the natural breath in-out through your nostrils or any techniques if you know – 10 to 15 minutes;
    But who are Yoga Master levels and Spiritual Aspirants, do practice 75 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes a day.
  8. Have a morning sun bath before 10 am and after 3 pm in summer, but be careful of sunstroke.
  9. Eat fresh and healthy food with boiled and gravy vegetables, Buckwheat or Millet soup, or Bread or porridge. A balanced diet, honey, fruits, and especially oranges and lemons, for vitamin C, which promotes the defense mechanism. But do not eat stale, decomposed food, junk food, fast food, and also freeze foods. A simple rule is Fast Life=Fast Food=Fast Death.
  10. Eat milk products less and avoid meat products because this food creates an appropriate atmosphere for virus growth and multiplication.
  11. Be active in household works, family talks, read the books, write the articles, drawing, painting, listen music, chants, sing and dance, use laughing and clapping therapy.
  12. You may do project works; write the books, online update, complete the pending work.
  13. Encourage the family members who are scared and frustrated by the current situation, fake and more negative news on Facebook, and some online.
  14. Be oneness but not aloneness; be busy but feel easy, but do not be crazy.
  15. Retain the theory of acceptance; generalize the situation because this is under your control and not a man-made crisis. Always friendly to natural and universal things rather than man-made or artificial things.
  16. Follow the urgent notice of the Government or Medical authorities, but do not follow the fake message from online.
  17. Keep your strong will power that will help to enhance your immunity and be stronger, nothing can make you weaker.
  18. Sleep in time and get sound sleep.
  19. Please walk 10 minutes morning and evening on the lawn or rocky & muddy ground barefoot if possible, but by mistakenly do not walk on the cemented floor barefoot.
  20. Do farming, so dig the land, plant something, also do harvest the foods and enjoy on eating obtained from your own labor or exhaustion.
  21. Once, please realize what we missed and misused in life. We are overwhelmed and have escaped from the reality of life.
  22. Enhance the brotherhood, kindness, love, compassion, responsibility, understanding, and honesty.
  23. Every hour, keep your back straight, expand your chest, and then take a long and deep breath once, consciously and silently, taking 24 seconds.
