Amazing Adventures and Experiences at Himalayan Yoga Academy
10 Dec 2022 HYN Himalayan Yoga Academy
If you get the chance to travel to Nepal, I strongly suggest spending some time with my now friend, Suyog Simkhada, at his Himalayan Yoga Academy in Kathmandu. I was fortunate to spend 7 nights and 8 days in the following activities organized by Suyog: yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, massages, Shirodhara / Hot Oil Scalp Massage, tea time, delicious home-cooked traditional Nepalese cuisine (vegetarian)prepared by Suyog’s mom and caring staff, sightseeing from the back of a motorcycle, visiting holy places to the Nepalese including temples and monasteries, and hikes to scenic peaks and through villages witnessing firsthand the lifestyle of the Nepalese. Suyog Simkhada, the kid as my traveling friends referred to as, is the meaning of hospitality. They now just turned 23 years old provided the best experiences that led from his heart. I’ve never experienced such wonderful hospitality in my travels. Suyog took the time to see to it that his guests were taken care of not only with what they wanted, but what he thought they should have. Sometimes as travelers, you come to a destination with an idea of what you want to do. For me, this was yoga and meditation and the hopes of seeing the Himalayas. Suyog not only made those experiences happen, but also took the time to communicate his ideas and plan day trips to the must-see sights of Kathmandu and beyond, including an overnight stay in Nagarotuk to not only make my dream of seeing the Himalayas come true, but also other travelers staying at the academy as well. Suyog runs a family business. He welcomes travelers into this family environment transforming once-unknown travelers into friendships through so many meaningful unique experiences. Suyog has created a place in Nepal that is safe, relaxing, culturally vibrant, and full of activities and experiences that will fill your soul. If you find it difficult to find the time and money to travel, I hope you can remember that travel, in my opinion, is on the short list of choices in this life you will never regret. It’s the experiences that are remembered that make life worth living. I hope you can set the goal for travel, and the time and money will appear. I hope you get to make it to Nepal, and spend some time at Suyog’s Himalayan Yoga Academy. Namaste, namaste, namaste.
